Gettin' a little greener!

As many of you know, we are trying to be a little greener and nicer to the environment.
We diligently turn off lights when we aren't in that room, I unplug all phone charges each morning, our thermastat is turned off for the remainder of the summer, and we ALWAYS use our reuseable bags when grocery shopping. All were small things that we have simply gotten used to, so it was time to add on to the green efforts.
While Ken was away at his pool tournament (sadly his team did not win!) I crafted my little heart out. At the top of that craft list were these reuseable sandwhich bags. No more throwing away all those ziplocks that have only been used once. Yep, you can put anything in these that you would put in a sandwhich bag. When we are done, we just toss it into the wash and use it again.
I am very proud to be doing my part to make this world live a little longer. I am also very proud that Ken makes his best effort to do the same! We are making small steps at a time so we don't go over the edge and run back to convenience products out of frustration. Little by little, these steps become part of our everyday life and we don't even give them a second thought.
If you do only one thing to help slow the destruction of the earth down-get rid of your plastic! Bags, bottles, and containers are the main culprit.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. It really is that easy!

The Great Silverback Fish On 2009

This was the first annual Great Silverback Fish On-a resurrection of a long standing Kreutzer family tradition. With Ken Sr now moved into the house on Lake Morton it seemed only fitting to him and his kids to get this tradition back on it's feet.
The weather, on the other hand, was not as supportive as everyone else was excited.

But that didn't seem to bring any spirits down. The bbq went on as scheduled, even though we were short a few (dozen) guests but that didn't stop anyone from finding their party pants and having a good time.
For me, the best part of the entire weekend was having my Dad and Cathleen from Vancouver, WA join us! Not only did they make the drive all the way here for this event, they did it in a down pour of rain and gloomy skies ahead-yet they were determined to come and that they did! What a treat for me to have a little bit of my 'peeps' at a Kreutzer event!
The rain kept coming, but between the breaks there were many trout caught for the fish fry and lots of stories told around the fire pit!
Everyone is looking forward to next year's Great Silverback Fish On, but I think we are also secretly hoping for slightly better weather to go with it!!!!
